That’s a Wrap!!

We just want to thank everyone who participated in this year’s 30 Days 30 Ways Challenge!  We had a great time bringing you the challenge and look forward to starting next years preparations.  Looking back at this year’s challenge, we once again had players in many states and even a few countries.  We were happy to see so many new players this year participating in the challenge. Close to 70% of those who took the challenge took if for the first time!!  We credit our returning players for this as you recruited your “allies” along the way.

We are busily working on finalizing points for everyone who participated in the challenge, and should be connecting with winners within the next few weeks.  At that time we will announce the winners.

This Challenge would not be nearly as successful if it was not for all of our Community Partners and Sponsors!  We would especially like to thank the Emergency Kit Cook Off, the Regional Water Consortium and 30 Days, 30 Ways UK, for once again partnering with us to bring a few special daily challenges.

As we finish up this year’s challenge, we again thank all that particpated, took, shared, lurked and watched this years challenge.  We will see you in 2018!!

Task 28: I Need My…

Without my glasses, I am as blind as a bat.  I wear contacts most of the time, yet, I know just like when I go camping, I will rely on my glasses to be able to see and get around.  I keep a pair secured next to my bed and I keep my older pair in my kit.  I know I would be helpless in a disaster or emergency without at least my glasses.

Task 27: Planes, Trains, Bikes and Automobiles

During disasters, no matter the type, roadways can become unusable for a period of time.  Sometimes for long periods of times.  In some disasters, roadway systems, even months later will not be functioning the way they did prior to the disaster.

We all have options, and for some that may be walking.  This may in the short term allow a person to get from point A to point B, yet covering larger distances or transporting necessities and supplies could be a challenge.

DAY 27 Challenge: 1 pt  Today we want you to discuss your alternative transportation methods you have available.  Tell us what equipment or resources you have available to help you get around and move supplies after an emergency when roadways may be unusable.

Level Up: 5 pts  For today’s level up, we want you to once again think outside the box.  What are some ways you can increase your transportation options?  Even if you may not have access to alternative transportation methods, or perhaps you have mobility issues, share with us what plans you have made.

Task 24: Can We Connect With You?

When emergencies happen, public safety agencies need to connect with you.  There are a variety of methods that emergency management agencies in your community can use based on the situation at hand.  Some systems use radio and TV airways, while others can target your cellphone.  These systems usually are for major large scale where the message needs to hit everyone.

Other times, the area may be more localized such as a specific neighborhood.  Most systems that would alert someone in these situations requires you to register your phones.

DAY 24 Challenge: 1 pt  For today’s challenge we want you to identify ans register for alerts in your area.  Share with us the web location to register and let us know you registered.  If you have registered in the past, we want you to review your sign up and still share with us the location to sign up.

Level Up: 5 pts  For today’s level up, we want you to explain the some of the ways you can connect with emergency officials in your community.  Share with us all the ways you connect with pubic safety agencies in your community.
